We are excited to announce the 13th Annual Slay Sarcoma 5K Run/Walk, a community-powered event dedicated to honoring survivors, remembering loved ones, and fueling the fight against leiomyosarcoma.
For more than a decade, this race has brought together runners, walkers, families, and supporters who believe that every step forward brings us closer to a cure. Whether you’re racing for a personal best or walking in honor of someone you love, your participation makes a meaningful impact. We hope to see you there!
Together, we can make a difference.
In October of 2013, Amy Reed, a physician and mother of six underwent surgery for what her doctors believed were uterine fibroids. Eight days later she received a call no one ever wants to get. "The pathology came back—you have cancer." Amy was diagnosed with leiomyosarcoma just a year after the birth of her youngest child. This cancer, which can masquerade as a fibroid, is aggressive, and often resistant to common cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation.
Since 2014, Slay Sarcoma and the Slay Sarcoma Research Initiative (SSRI) have held yearly 5K Run/Walk events to raise awareness and funding for LMS research. Year to date, over $530,625.00 has been distributed to research organizations.
Together, we can Slay Sarcoma.
SSRI has raised $530,625.00 towards our goal of $1,000,000.00.
